Introducing the AEE Software Hub

On April 1st, AEE Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH is opening an engineering hub at Digitales Zentrum Schwaben (DZ.S), IT-Gründerzentrum GmbH with up to 8 seats, focused on hardware and software development.

There's a reason we chose Augsburg:
Munich (which is about 80 km away) is a shark tank. Incredible talent, sure. But also incredible competition, incredible costs and incredible noise.

Augsburg is different.

The Technische Hochschule Augsburg has a technical computer science programme that fits what we do at AEE to 100%. We found out last week they're even building their own maritime surveillance drone. Somehow, we'd never connected – something we really need to change now.

Sometimes the best decisions don't feel like decisions at all. They feel like the path was already there.

One Portfolio, Two Global Stages: AEE at Dubai Airshow & European Rotors 2025

2025 showed how AEE turns engineering principles into globally relevant avionics innovation — on two continents at once. By being present in parallel at the Dubai Airshow and European Rotors in Cologne, AEE addressed two key aviation ecosystems while delivering one consistent message: robust engineering, certification-ready processes and modular avionics platforms designed for operational aircraft programs.

MIAU1000 — Compact & Versatile Interface Unit for Modern Avionics

The MIAU1000 is the latest addition to AEE’s family of advanced avionics and flight-control systems. Designed for the demanding needs of UAV, eVTOL and light-aircraft applications, it provides a compact and highly adaptable interface solution for complex flight control system configurations.

Developed following aviation-grade processes, the MIAU1000 can operate as a Data Concentrator Unit (DCU), as a Gateway, or— thanks to its high-performance microcontroller — even as a small Flight Control Computer in centralized and decentralized control setups. It complements AEE’s BARC1000 platform and supports scalable, modular avionics architectures.

AEE extends and expands contract with Airbus Helicopters until 2036

The German avionics specialist AEE Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH will remain the supplier of TETRA radio systems for Airbus Helicopters in Germany for the next 10 years.

It will now also supply Airbus Helicopters in France. AEE Managing Director Phillipp Volz and Lukas Hamm-Riff, AEE accountable manager EASA Part 21G & Part 145, have now signed the corresponding contract for the extension and expansion of the cooperation until 2036.

AEE has been the sole supplier of radio systems for Airbus Helicopters in Germany for around 20 years: the radios are installed in a helicopter control unit, and the associated control panels are installed in the cockpit.

The radio systems supplied by AEE are used, for example, in helicopters for government agencies.

“This system, with Tetra radio as the standard for digital radio traffic, is simply stable and has been successfully approved in the helicopters,” said Hamm-Riff. “We are pleased that we can continue to serve the segment with one of our top-selling products. Our supplier relationship with Airbus Helicopters began with the radio systems. We are now also developing the IdFX mission computer and SNAF for secure military radio communications for the customer.”

Shared vision, shared standard – and a shared passion for aviation

AEE and Heli-One share a long-standing collaboration, including the delivery of our robust infrared-based headset systems – developed to meet the toughest demands of special mission and offshore operations or the Electronic Float Activation System (EFAS).
