Daedalean, a leading provider of certifiable AI-based automation and autonomy for aviation, and AEE Aircraft Electronic Engineering, a German avionics specialist, have launched a strategic partnership to bring certifiable AI to the cockpit and develop the next generation of avionics systems.

AEE has joined forces with Daedalean to deliver full-spectrum engineering support with a strong emphasis on scalable, high-quality production of robust and light-weight computing systems. This partnership highlights the synergy between Daedalean’s cutting-edge software and hardware—including a high-performance FPGA at the core of its systems—and AEE’s excellence in aerospace manufacturing and product industrialization.

Known for its deep expertise in developing, qualifying, certifying, producing, and maintaining customized electronic systems for the aerospace sector, AEE brings a unique combination of advanced manufacturing capabilities and aerospace-grade compliance to the table. AEE is certified for EASA Part 21G manufacturing, EASA Part 145 maintenance, and operates under a certified EN 9100 quality management system, meeting the stringent standards of the international aerospace industry. By adhering to these high standards, AEE ensures the delivery of lightweight, robust, and fully compliant products, ready for certification and production.

Daedalean is a pioneer in the creation of certifiable, trustworthy, and reliable AI-based avionics systems to provide safer, more cost-effective, and efficient flight. The company is working to certify and bring to market a full line of AI-enhanced visual awareness products. Daedalean has achieved substantial progress with aviation regulators, and is poised to become the first to attain certification of an AI-enhanced system for safety-critical applications with its Ailumina Vista traffic detection system, which is capable of not only detecting, but also categorizing and tracking aerial objects including non-cooperative traffic.

AEE’s delivery of these computing systems is integral to the certification process as they will be used for compliance demonstration such as environmental qualifications as well as lab and flight testing, marking a significant, tangible milestone on an arduous path to certification Daedalean hopes to complete this year. “This partnership is an ideal match for scaling our technology,” said Bas Gouverneur, CEO at Daedalean. “It represents a significant advancement on our certification roadmap.AEE’s engineering and production expertise gives us the foundation we need to deliver high-impact, certifiable AI systems to the aviation industry.”

AEE’s leadership also emphasized the significance of the collaboration:

“We’re proud to be part of a truly groundbreaking project that brings artificial intelligence into the cockpit,” stated AEE Accountable Manager Lukas Hamm-Riff. “Supporting Daedalean’s vision and helping create a certified, production-ready reality aligns perfectly with our mission and capabilities.”

With this milestone, Daedalean and AEE are not just building hardware—they are shaping the future of intelligent aviation.

AEE extends and expands contract with Airbus Helicopters until 2036

The German avionics specialist AEE Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH will remain the supplier of TETRA radio systems for Airbus Helicopters in Germany for the next 10 years.

It will now also supply Airbus Helicopters in France. AEE Managing Director Phillipp Volz and Lukas Hamm-Riff, AEE accountable manager EASA Part 21G & Part 145, have now signed the corresponding contract for the extension and expansion of the cooperation until 2036.

AEE has been the sole supplier of radio systems for Airbus Helicopters in Germany for around 20 years: the radios are installed in a helicopter control unit, and the associated control panels are installed in the cockpit.

The radio systems supplied by AEE are used, for example, in helicopters for government agencies.

“This system, with Tetra radio as the standard for digital radio traffic, is simply stable and has been successfully approved in the helicopters,” said Hamm-Riff. “We are pleased that we can continue to serve the segment with one of our top-selling products. Our supplier relationship with Airbus Helicopters began with the radio systems. We are now also developing the IdFX mission computer and SNAF for secure military radio communications for the customer.”
